Forgotten treasures in South-Osaka

„Asa-ichi“ or „Morning market“
A interesting place, for everybody who loves marine creatures and do not back away from getting up early in the morning, is the "Morning market", in japanese "Asa-ichi". The market is bordering directly on the sea of Osaka an offers nearly everything you can catch from the sea. There can be found freshly prepared fish, living turtles and different kinds of jellyfishes, shrimps and shells. If its not fresh enough for somebody, he can gain living fishes, presented in fish tanks or plastic basins.
Everywhere there are little stalls, similar to the "Würstelbuden" which can be found in Germany and Austria. But instead of a Hot Dog and meat loaf, there are kinds of little fish rissoles and shrimps pellets. In the same way, beef and pork for the Europeans, for the Japanese are marine creatures very important. There are exotic meals like Tako-Meshi (Octopus-rice) or Kani-Miso (Crab-Misosoup). If there is somebody in a quandary, maybe he is in luck and gets a free sample, often offered by the fishermen.
However, because the market is next to the sea, it is better to dress warmly. Sometimes there is a cold wind. In the summertime of course, it is convenient. Who do not like to eat in the open, can make himself at home in a hall, equipped with dining tables and banquettes for free.

By the way, there are mobile toilets, not as luxurious as washrooms, but they are clean and you can wash your hands.
